Anthrax
Caused by gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis, anthrax can be found naturally in soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals around the world. There are four common routes of anthrax infection, including skin, lungs, intestinal and injection. All types of anthrax have the potential, if untreated, to spread throughout the body and cause severe illness and even death.
